There are a great many potential reasons for low ratings at Helium and in this article, I will attempt to cover the more common ones among them. The reasons discussed below should therefore not be considered exhaustive and there may be others as to why any individual article has received low ratings at Helium.

Perhaps the most common reason of all why an article incurs low ratings at Helium is to be found within the structure of the article. This could include poor spelling, grammar or paragraphing. It is imperative therefore that every writer takes all due care in this respect and avails themselves of the opportunity to comb through each article looking for what may be simple typos prior to clicking on the, "Publish," button. It can be extremely frustrating for a Helium writer to be reading through one of their own articles to find a number of mistakes in this fashion - which may have occured through simple carelessness and undue haste - and find themselves having to resort to submitting a typo fix request or even proposing a Leapfrog in more serious instances.

A lack of quality information upon the subject being discussed is another common reason for low ratings at Helium. When a writer is writing to a subject upon the site, they should be forever conscious of the need to provide value within their article for subsequent readers, both within Helium and beyond. Anyone reading the article should subsequently feel that they have learned something from it or at least benefited from the process of doing so in some respect. Reading the article prior to rating it should be a pleasure, not a simple chore and part of the Helium process.

If an article is written off topic it is almost certain to incur low ratings at Helium. This could be an accident on the part of the writer through perhaps not reading or considering the article title properly or, somewhat more sinisterly, it could be a deliberate process simply looking to secure such as some form of promotional benefit. It is imperative therefore that the writer remain extremely focused on the topic of their article and ensure that it relates very closely to the title provided.

The length of an article at Helium is scripted in terms of minimum word and character count but the upper limit in this respect is not so clearly prescribed. It is entirely possible therefore that the reason for low ratings incurred by an article is that it is too long and includes lots of incidental information. Writers at Helium should be aware of the need to retain their readers' attention and interest at all times and not veer off topic or include too much perhaps unnecessary information on same.

These are some of the reasons why articles receive low ratings on Helium but if a writer is puzzled as to why an article which seems to meet all of the above criteria continues to receive low ratings, they should perhaps peruse some of the other articles in the category in search of enlightenment and submit a Leapfrog request with what is hopefully a polished and enhanced article.
