Giuseppe's Italian Restaurant, 257 Low Street
This restaurant prides itself on using traditional Italian recipes and has been operating since the mid 1990s. The food is noted for its quality and the prices are reasonable. It has been voted as the number one Italian restaurant in the greater Newburyport area on several occasions. Also known as Giuseppe's Fresh Pasta and Fine Foods, it offers an extensive menu of soups, sandwiches and wraps, lasagnas and raviolis, pasta, salads, pasta salads, and side orders. Note that the main courses are often called entrees which, in many or most parts of the world, refer to smaller courses such as appetizers or starters.
Some of the choices include a bowl of pasta fagioli soup for $3.99 or beef stew soup at $4.99. The sandwiches and wraps, such as chicken cacciatore (olives and capers) or eggplant parmigiana, cost $5.99. Delicious pasta meals include pesto Genovese (pinenut and walnut) for $8.50, carbonara (eggs and Italian bacon) at $8.99, puttanesca (peppers, capers and olives) costing $8.99, and northeast shrimps for $12.50. Meat or vegetable lasagna costs $9.99. Or you might like to try the lobster ravioli for $13.50. Cheese raviolis or tortellinis, and ricotta or potato gnocchis, can be enjoyed in many different ways, such as marinara or pomodoro for $8.99, puttanesca for $10.50, or with chicken piccata at $12.99, or cacciatore for $11.50. Fresh and pasta salads can be ordered for $5.50.
Giuseppe's also has a party menu and will deliver to business functions or private gatherings of six to 200 people. These banquets can include appetizers, homemade soups, various fresh, pasta or potato salads, pasta dishes, and dessert. This presents an ideal option where time is short or cooking facilities are lacking, or you just want to spend more time with guests.
You can eat in or take out. Phone order meals can be picked up in 15 minutes. Food is prepared to order. You can also buy homemade pasta by the pound and cook it at home, and sauces can be bought by the pint. The restaurant is open from 10am to 8pm on Monday to Saturday, and now sells beer and wine.
