It was eight fifteen in the mad man's dream,
and in solitude, he slept.
The man was dead, cold like stone,
but in this dream he wept.
The subtlety of silence drove the mad man to sleep.
He knew he would not wake, so he made these promises to keep.
He promised to keep the ones he loved, closest to his heart.
long ago he swore this, incase he might depart.
And so he drifted, out of body, and out of mind,
Pleading to the lord to please bless him with more time
"God, I never made my peace! I didn't hear the bells!"
For if I go as I am now I will surely go to hell.
Trust me god I promise you, I never meant what was said.
I'm just a simple, humble man, living his days in bed."
"If you hear me, please oh lord grant me one last breath.
I'll use it for you I swear, please expect nothing less."
With this scream, in this dream, burst a flash of light.
It blinded the man, but he glared into without the slightest fright.
Through the light, once it faded, something had appeared.
Should he smile, or show fear, for the answer was not yet clear.
It was a ghost that apeared, in the shadow of the light,
and her transparent glow made her white upon the night.
He studdered for a moment, and fell back a few steps.
Now in the beauty of her glow, he does not see why he wept.
For she was a gentle ghost, and meant no harm,
and in silence they glared, no sound, no alarm.
"Your lord god sent me, to give peace to your soul.
To transform to a diamond, what now is only coal.
You beg for a chance once more, and that is what you are granted.
Tonight you must dig up those rotten seeds you so hastily planted."
She drifted through the stunning midnight, calling for his hand.
He trembled slow, and softly sobbed at the thought of this command.
They faded with silence, into the midnight of his dream.
Was he mad? He did not know, but to many, it would seem.
