Ways to prevent the spread of swine flu in schools

If you have children who attend any type of school you know that preventing the swine flu in schools is very important. How can we as parents be sure that the kids are doing their part in keeping themselves safe when they are in school? Perhaps this short guide to prevention of the swine flu in schools can steer you in the right direction.

Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer is always a good idea to have on-hand during the cold season when those types of illnesses ravage through the school's populace. It is extremely important to have now for the prevention of swine flu, because germs are everywhere on the campus.

Germs cover door handles, desktops, flush handles, sink handles, and handrails on steps. Carrying hand sanitizer is a great way for these students to do their part in the prevention. If parents get the small bottles, which slide into a pocket, the students can use the hand sanitizer as often as they need to in school.

I am a parent who has to watch my budget, so I bought a large bottle of hand sanitizer and I simply refill the smaller bottles on a nightly basis. I know I am doing my part to keep my children safe when they are in school, and this helps keep the swine flu at bay.

Instruct the kids to wash often

Tell your children to wash their hands often for the prevention of swine flu in their schools. Most children will wash their hands after using the restroom, but it is a great idea to remind them to wash their hands after blowing their noses.

Germs are everywhere in schools so it is important for the kids to wash more often than usual during this pandemic. The high school where my sons attend has sinks in the hallway opposite the cafeteria. I have told my sons to use these sinks to wash their hands often during the day.

Individual packs of tissues

Individual packages of tissues are handy during any flu season but they are important for any student who has the sniffles or a common cold. We all know that germs will fly so it is important to use a tissue for each sneeze. Having a small package of tissues on hand along with a small bottle of hand sanitizer allows the kids to take an active part in the prevention of swine flu in the schools.

We know the government will close the school if a case of swine flu occurs; if two cases with the district happen, the whole school district is closed. It is everyone's responsibility to partake in the prevention of the swine flu in schools. By taking these simple steps outlined above, we are being responsible.
