1) Drink plenty of water. Water nourishes and hydrates the body leaving you feeling energized and refreshed. You should try to drink at least a gallon of water a day. This excludes any sugar or vitamin based waters. It would be more cost effective to buy water by the gallon. Avoid consuming large doses of caffeinated drinks, alcoholic beverages and chocolate for these things dehydrate the body.
2) Get an adequate amount of rest. At least seven hours of slumber can sharpen your brain and protect your body from infections. This will help you become more focused and perform better throughout the day.
3) Consume more fiber. Increasing your fiber intake has many health benefits. It can promote a healthy digestive system and keep waste from accumulating in the body.
4) Consume fewer red meats and processed sugars. Red meats take up to three days to completely pass through the digestive system and can make you feel heavier and slower. Processed sugars found in products such as candy, cookies, cakes, snacks, etc. offer quick energy boosts that last for a few minutes and then drain the body of energy.
5) Detox. Periodically cleanse the body of internal toxins by detoxing. Some great ways to detox include hot yoga, visiting a sauna, etc. If you are on a budget, detoxing is as easy as filling your private bathtub with warm or hot water and soaking for at least 30 minutes. This will cause the body to sweat out any impurities. Remember, whatever avenue you choose to detox, you should drink plenty of water before and after to replace the fluid you are going to lose and to prevent dehydration. Exercising can also detox the body.
6) Have sex. This is not meant to promote promiscuity, but if you are in a stable, healthy, relationship with a monogamous partner, feel free to take advantage of your private time together. Use your time of intimacy as a means of expression and relaxation.
7) Do something special for yourself. Spend a day catering to you. Learn that foreign language you have been trying to learn. Try a new recipe.
8) Stay positive. Adopt an optimistic outlook on life, and your reality will begin to change. Don't allow yourself to be overcome with negativity. All you have to do is smile.
9) Meditate. This is not just in the Buddhist sense. This can mean anything from prayer to a simple daily reflection. If closing yourself off from the world for ten minutes a day helps you clear your mind, this can also count as meditation.
10) Find your passion. Find your drive for life. Discovering your passion will fill every day with purpose and add to your overall level of contentment in life.
