Healthful pantry staples to keep on hand

There are dozen of food items that you can keep in your pantry and/or food cupboard that will most certainly provide a healthy snack that will satisfy your hunger until it is time for that regular meal time, as you live another day of your life.

Packaged energy and/or fruit and grain bars provide what you need to go on working or whatever you are doing. So too, dried fruits such as raisins, pineapples, apricots or some such dried or canned tropical fruits also serve that purpose.

Then again, a variety of nuts such as peanuts, pecans, walnuts, almonds and the like are also healthful snacks. There are nearly an endless number of varieties, either packaged in jars, cans or bags for your enjoyment. They can also be glazed with sugar, chocolate and/or other ingredients to enhance their flavor.

Corn nuts, soya nuts, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds truly are delicious and they too can be purchased with other flavors added as coatings to each of those treats. There are many such makers of those food products and they can be found for purchase within places besides the supermarkets where you buy most of your food.

Let us not forget about the canned ready to eat foods and/or complete meals that are available for purchase within your supermarket. Canned meats, including fish, beef, pork and the like are perfect snacks when enjoyed with saltine crackers or other types of crackers and your favorite drink. Then again, who does not like a canned ready to eat variety of soup with perhaps a buttered slice of bread or with some of your favorite crackers? Yes, and there are many kinds of dried soups available for you to just add boiling water to for your snacking enjoyment.

Who again does not like ready to eat and canned chili, spaghetti and meat balls or ravioli? What more can you ask for? Packaged and grated cheese is the perfect thing to add to your ready to eat meal. So too, your can add hot chilies, diced or powered onions and or garlic and those other desired herbs and spices to your meal to flavor it just the way you like it.

Canned vegetables, water, spices, bouillon cubs and fresh vegetable can provide the makings for a quickly made soup as well. Yes, and if you simply combine those vegetables with some type of salad oil, like olive oil, together with some kind of vinegar, like balsamic vinegar, you will have an excellent tasting and healthful room temperature or cold salad for your eating pleasure.

For those of you who enjoy the many kinds of pastry that is available for purchase, well, there are an endless amount of such items that you can purchase at a supermarket and/or bakery that you can keep within your home for as long as a week before those items are eaten or simply spoil. You can also make your own pastry snacks and breads. In which case, you will need on hand the makings of those items. Your baking day can provide to you and your family a weeks worth of cookies, cakes, pies and the like for any time that you feel hungry. Enjoy!
