Questioning the logic of New Age concepts ~ It can be said, that my journey to understanding life, began in the 80's, when I entered into and discovered the metaphysical New Age. I grew up in a family environment, where pain was communicated through violence or extreme silence; no communication. Now, to an empath, with very high intuition, that is enough to set them off into a tailspin of no return.

There were many times, in my young life, where I felt that I should have been the parent, instead of my parents being the parents. I was very aware of the importance of communication to heal at a very young age. I could never understand why everytime there were challenges, instead of my parents sitting down and talking, pain became violence. Talk about imprinting the emotional body of children.

I tried to hold things together, as a mediator, peacemaker and caretaker until I was 21 and then I knew that I had to leave and trust me, when I say, leaving was hard to do, regardless of the fact, that life was incredibly out of balance in my house. I felt the need to protect my parents and my siblings, even tho' I knew there wasn't anything more that I could do to help or hold things together.

And so I left. In the meantime, I was getting married and was finally having a chance to live in a much calmer and healthier environment. By this time, I had been married for a few years and all of a sudden felt the need to bring understanding to the emotional traumas of my childhood. I invested one full year, two times weekly, doing my homework, with a counselor that had all of the traditional credentials for counseling, however, had a very cutting edge approach to healing.

Toward the completion of my counseling, I began to notice my intuition calling to me a little more. It wasn't until a chance conversation with a friend at work, that I would soon discover that there were ways to learn about psychic and intuitive awarenes.

And so my journey into the New Age began. I was seriously interested in learning all that I could and for a long while, was able to pick and choose at my hearts desire, what I wanted to learn. While on this journey, my intuition and sense of knowing began evolving and developing.

As with all things that we choose to learn, the New Age for me personally, was an evolutionary development in awareness and understanding to life. I was fortunate, in the classes that I participated in, had good teachers, with not a whole lot of junk dumped into the learning experience.
