1) www.helium.com:

This site is clearly the most writer-friendly site in the world right now. Helium is the world's largest community of online writers and has achieved a lot of success within a relatively short time. If you write for helium.com, you will receive upfront payment per article, you will get revenue sharing and your articles can be sold to helium's partner publishing houses for very good money. Helium also runs writing contests where you stand to earn good money if you win. Finally, you can write to market place titles and get paid anywhere between 20 to 200 dollars per article.

2) www.constant-content.com:

This site provides a middleman service to article writers. You write your article and set a price for exclusive rights or non-exclusive rights. If the article gets sold, constant-content pays you. But the site gets quite a large chunk of your money as a commission for facilitating the deal.

3) www.associated content.com:

This is another relatively lucrative site to write for. You get some of the ad revenue and in some cases, upfront payment for articles submitted. Unfortunately, (for non-Aericans) this site is only open to American citizens and legal residents of America.

4) www.elance.com:

This is another site that acts as a middle man between writers and those that need online content. The prospect of making good money at elance is quite high but you need to be a very good and a very committed writer.

5) www.suite101.com:

These guys have been around for over twelve years. They are reliable, reputable and have very good writers. You need to apply and get accepted before you can write for them.

6) www.brighthub.com:

Like suite 101, brighthub.com is not a very easy site to break into. You need to apply before you start writing for them. But it could be a very lucrative site if you are accepted. In some cases, you get to earn as much as ten dollars per article submitted. Bright hub also pays you for each relevant back link to an article. You also receive as much as eighty percent of the ad revenues generated by your articles.

7) Other sites:

Other sites that pay writers for online articles are triond.com, ehow.com, hubpages.com, squidoo.com, and share your expertise.com.

As stated earlier, there is money to be made writing online articles but it is not for the lazy or faint-hearted individual. Roll up your sleeves and work hard and you will make good money from freelance writing.
