Poetry: Making a difference

by Patricia Arnold

Created on: May 02, 2009

In the minutiae of our being, within the inertia of our existence,

finite molecules as a speck in the earth's atmosphere-

standing alone, as singularly ineffective and weightless as a walk on the moon's surface.

Together, we are a mighty force, each of us a finger, collectively, a fist - striking a mighty blow against all that threatens

to uproot us from our very core;

together, we can plant our roots firmly in the ground and spread, once grown, like the mighty oak,

to bring shade and coverage for those to come after.
