When busy college students are hungry, they inevitably aren't going to want to fix some food for themselves. In many cases, that may not even be possible - especially for those who live in the dorm. When they want an easy, reasonably priced and convenient meal, the food that makes the most sense is pizza. Several people can go in together to split the cost of the pizza. When you get vegetables on the pizza, you've got a meal that has almost all of the food groups, and when eaten in moderation, it might even be reasonably nutritious.

What makes pizza the ultimate meal for college students

*Convenience  -

Most of the pizza chains start delivering at about 11 in the morning and they deliver until late at night...on weekends, they deliver after midnight. Late night delivery is a real convenience for hungry for a hungry college student. It arrives hot and ready to eat.

In places where students who live in the dorm cannot get a Sunday night meal, the presence of so many pizza establishments in college communities pretty much guarantees that students will have an easy and convenient way to get a Sunday evening meal. Some pizza places even offer individual pan pizzas, making it possible to get a single serving without having to worry about where to put leftovers.

*Readily available -

Pizza is one of those foods that is ubiquitous. No matter where you are, in a large city, major university town or small rural community, there are always pizza joints. Many pizza establishments make it a point to leave menus in apartments where students live, in campus apartments, fraternities, sororities and dorms.

*No need to cook or clean up  -

One of the biggest reason for the popularity of pizza among college students is that it's a meal that they don't have to cook for themselves. They don't have to take the time to go shopping for the ingredients, prepare the food or clean up after it. Although a college student may be willing to throw something together, chances are, they are not willing to clean up after themselves.

*Reasonably affordable -

Pizza is pretty reasonable considering you can get a hot meal delivered to your door at anytime between 10 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. during the week and 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. on weekends. Leftovers will provide another meal, and that will cut the cost further. When college students get together to order pizza, splitting the cost among several people makes it even more affordable.
