Which are the best web browsers?

Maybe you're finding your current internet browser slow, buggy, or just downright frustrating. If you're looking for alternative browsers, here is a great list of them. Best of all, every browser listed is free. Some of these are Windows browsers, others are Mac browsers, and a few are compatible with both systems, as indicated underneath the program's name.

Internet browsers are numerous these days, so you're sure to find one to your liking! A new internet browser can be hard to get used to at first, but often a good choice will mean a great time savings for you, and even pleasant new features you didn't know you could have.

1. Firefox
Windows and Macs

This browser is very fast (if you're more tech-savvy, you can even optimize it for more speed!), intuitive, and streamlined. Version 3.0 includes one-click bookmarking and easy tagging and categorizing of those bookmarks with a second click. The history in the URL bar is great - you can type in keywords that you think were on a page or in its title, even if you don't remember the exact URL, and it will suggest sites. If you're safety-conscious, it's rated very safe, and you can set it to automatically clean out cache and cookies every time you close the browser, or you could have it remember your usernames and passwords for your favorite sites. Popular add-ons (a huge directory of free add-ons is available) include ones designed to block all web ads, synchronize bookmarks across different computers, customize its appearance, and download videos from YouTube and other popular sites.

2. Google Chrome
Windows only

This is a fairly new browser, but definitely earns its place in the list of best browsers. Google Chrome can be hard to get used to for some people, since it places tabs (these allow you to switch between sites easily, rather than using many windows) at the top of the window, unlike most browsers. One of its big advantages for dedicated surfers or those working on important projects is that if one tab crashes, the others will continue to run fine. It's also a fast and intuitive browser. Finding items on a page, downloading things, and browsing in a private mode (so sites and downloads don't show up in your History) are made easy by this browser. Like Firefox, you can search for a previously viewed page easily, even when you don't know the URL, by typing keywords into the address bar.

3. Opera
Windows and Macs

This browser is unique in a few ways. It has interactive voice command capabilities, which means if you
