It's been a long time since my porch-light cast your shadow.
It's been a long time since we touched outside my dreams.
And the lock on my front door
Don't feel your key no more.
It's been a long time, since you said goodbye to me.
My telephone and my finger miss your ring.
The bed is only sagging on one side of the springs.
The fireplace don't glow,
Even though this house is cold.
It's been too long, since you said goodbye to me.
I'll get by okay unless I'm sober.
The grandfather clock don't know it's over.
He just chimes and chimes away,
And lets me know each day,
You never came back since you said goodbye to me.
