Many card games such as poker, big two, and bluff require bluffing skills. Bluffing is a vital part of these card games. A bluffer may not necessarily win every tournament, but he can certainly make money.

There are many reasons why bluffing is a vital part of these games.

If you have ever played poker, then you will know that skill will triumph over luck. Skill also includes the art of bluffing. Poker players call bluffing an art. Not a lot of players have the ability to raise thousands of dollars with the worst poker hand. However, the players who know how to bluff, will do this several times and make money from their worst starting cards.

In games like big two, people have to get rid of their cards. Bluffing in this game can be beneficial. If you play according to the strict rules, then there should be no information sharing in the first place. However, some people will always ask you about your cards. If you give them the wrong information, you can win a few games. If you tell them the truth, then you will lose. As you can see, bluffing can play a major role in big two, and win a lot of games.

Then there is the game called bluff or cheat. The name of this card game signifies that bluffing is the major part of this game. In this card game, players are supposed to get rid of all their cards face down, and say which cards they are getting rid of. The other players can randomly say the word "bluff", and check the cards. If the player got rid of some other cards (other than the ones he said he will get rid of), then all the cards go back to him. Bluffing is one of the only skills required for this game. Without being able to bluff, an experienced player will be able to tell from your facial expression that you are lying.

These 3 examples of different card games show exactly how much importance bluffing plays in card games. These days, bluffing in poker has become the norm. Bluffing alone is not sufficient. You must be able to maintain a "poker face" if you really want to bluff. If you show true emotions, then you are not an experienced bluffer. To practice bluffing, practice making a poker face. You can play small stakes poker with your friends, and practice bluffing.

But don't over rate the importance of bluffing. A poker player who plays with odds and probability is more likely to succeed than the player who bluffs every hand. However, you need to combine both of them in your playing style. If you don't know any strategies for playing games, then you can't bluff. You can only bluff if you actually know what you are gaining from the bluff.

So, don't over use bluffing, and learn the game before you start to practice the art of bluffing.
