Poetry: Love & darkness

by Elizabeth Dawn

Created on: May 01, 2009

My face twists into a mask of uncertainty

The air is moist with vapors from your exquisite lies.

I thought I knew you once,

Thought that your devious crevices had been unmasked.

I should've looked deeper

Deep within the onyx of your well.

The truth lies buried there,

Woven delicately beneath the frozen shards of an empty shell.

I thought I loved you once,

Thought that you hung the moon and stars.

I should've looked past that

Past the shimmering moon and dazzling stars.

You were there all along

In the black hole behind the pure.

Your darkness gapes widely,ebbing

Licking at the edges of good with a maniacal tongue.

I am there waiting,

Still waiting.

My denial is singed in blood,

dripping from the chains that bound me in your abyss.

The blind knows no evil, and

Evil throbs for its prey.

So, my love, I am there waiting.

Still waiting.
