Father's Day is a wonderful time to show dad just how much he means to you. Or, you may be a mom who wants to make sure that her husband knows how appreciated he is and you want to do this by helping the kids out with a craft project that he can cherish forever. Whatever the case, the following craft projects will be fun to make and will warm his heart knowing that he is loved and cared about on Father's Day more than ever.
Most Dads have little things that they save or keep. Maybe it's screws or nails in their shop, maybe the small things his children give him, office supplies, or maybe its a little collection he has, so a treasure box that can hold these items is always nice for Dad. Decorate as you please but make sure the theme is all about you (or your child) and Dad.
MATERIALS
Peanut canister (cylindrical cardboard kind with foil lining)
Magazines, catalogs or photos
White glue or clear glaze (available at craft stores)
INSTRUCTIONS
Remove the lid from a clean peanut can. Your child can clip out letters, pictures or family photos he thinks his father will like and then glue the pictures on the canister. Encourage your child to finish the gift by gluing a photo of himself onto the plastic lid. After it dries, paint everything with glaze or white glue that dries clear.
Make sure Dad knows that he's "king for a day" by setting him up outside in the sunshine with his very own Father's Day throne! Be sure and have a little table set up with some snacks, drinks, and other things he'll need to truly relax and enjoy his special day.
MATERIALS:Lawn chairClamps, tape, or stringWireScissorsVarious chair accessories
Time needed: Under 1 Hour
1.Use tape, clamps, or string to attach appropriate accessories, from a shade umbrella to a back scratcher to a cold drink holder.
2.Fashion a halo made of wire to hold Dad's favorite hat or crown and attach it to the back of the chair.
3.Include a bell for Dad to ring for service.
Variations:
Add items like: clip-on fan, back scratcher, plastic snap-on cup holders, newpaper, foot soaking tub, travel pillow, beaded driver's seat cover, mini pool table or basketball hoop, red carpet (towel), or slippers.
Make sure that while you are crafting for Dad, you don't forget to make a card for him. He will love the thought and time that you and the children put into making sure that he knows you are thinking of him.
