Evaluating Oil of Olay

LOOK 10 YEARS YOUNGER! (Oil of Olay - Definity)

How many times have those words screamed at us, implying that if you use xyz moisturizer that not only will your skin look better but you will attract a Hugh Jackman look-alike; your cellulite will disappear and global warming will be stopped in its tracks. OK, I'm there!

Being a sucker for such noble claims, I've forked out more money than I want to admit on moisturizers. How about you? I've been seduced by the slick ads in women's magazines showing us 20-somethings with glowing skin. (To which I tell myself: If a 20-something DOESN'T have glowing skin then something is wrong!)

The results have been hit n' miss - ranging from an oil slick on my face that will make most snow tires lose traction to water-based products that leave you wondering where it all went! Are you with me here?

Enter Oil of Olay - Definity into the fray. This product was introduced a few years ago as part of Olay's anti-aging line for mature skin. Their well-designed ads show us very pretty, mature woman with glowing skin. Now we're talking!

Well, dear readers, I'll have to say that this product actually does what it claims. Its' non-greasy formula doesn't just sit on top of your skin. It doesn't irritate your eyes. It doesn't eat up your other make-up nor does it attract those annoying little flecks of mascara that seem to find their way onto your cheeks.

I have 'mature' and extremely sensitive skin. I am very fair and my skin chaps easily. This product (specifically the Intense Hydrating Cream) has renewed my skin to a healthy glow. I have been using this product for approximately one year now. I started to see results after approximately 6 weeks when used on a daily basis. At first I couldn't put my finger on exactly what was different about my complexion and then a friend complimented me on my skin. That was it! I wasn't seeing a red, chapped face looking at me in the mirror every morning. Hallelujah! If you have 50-something skin, I strongly recommend trying a jar. It has done wonders for my over all skin health.

I am surprised; however, that Oil of Olay has chosen not to put a sunscreen in this product. In this day and age of skin cancer, I think this would be a great selling-feature. I can only guess that this product line was an experiment for Olay and they didn't want to put too much effort or resources into the initial launch. I feel the product has proved itself and that adding a sunscreen should be their next marketing ploy.

Now... a side note to the Oil of Olay team: Now that I'm a strong advocate of your product, I'm now available to receive my Hugh Jackman prize and, a little less cellulite would be appreciated also.
