To limit the significance of the April 15, 2009 tea parties protests to just taxes is to miss the depth of the fundamental revolt that they represent, both to confiscatory taxing and socialistic policies being implemented by Barak Obama's hard-left Administration. His politics are anathema to the constitutional government of United States. These two factors form the basic make-up of the April 15 Tea Party Protests.
Yes taxes were an important element of the event, but when those who were in attendance at the protest I attended were asked how many had ever attended any kind anti-government protest, the hand count was well over 90 per cent. That is an astounding number. It reveals just how deep the distrust of this administration is.
If you wonder just how far Obama and his administration will go to instill fear in order to use it to force his agenda, consider the outrageous memo he had Department of Homeland Security Director Janet Napolitan release calling returning American soldiers potential threats to become white-power terrorists.
In other words, this wasn't just a protest against taxes, it was a protest against a King Obama-imposed attack on many Constitutional rights Americans hold dear. And while there were many young people there who raised their hands, the striking realization was the number of gray-haired senior citizens who were also there. It was extremely significant.
These senior citizens realized that the policies being implement by congress and the president will impact their lives for the next 20 years, and that means essentially the rest of their lives. These citizens have seen their life savings cut in half. They've watched their carefully saved retirement money evaporate and their home values plummet.
They realize that they no longer have the time to rebuild a life time of savings. The younger protesters do have that precious time, but with the gargantuan tax hikes and hyper-inflationary impact of more than ten trillion dollars of unsupported dollars applied to expenditures in the next several years, there will be no way that the greenback can maintain it's value.
Worse, having the years of life experience the seniors see that printing money with no backing is a false promise even young people simply cannot afford. They want to warn young Americans that a charismatic politician with little experience but a fine tuned TelePrompter cannot solve the issue of worthless paper money.
The Financial Times of London reported that Zimbabwe President Robert
