The number one love song is "I Will Always Love You". I love Whitney Houston's rendition. However, Dolly Parton did a nice job with the song as well. I saw Whitney's video for the song the other day, and I was taken back. When the song was released, I was in junior high school. I had no clue of what love was. I had a very incorrect perception at that time. I still believed in fairy-tale marriages. I liked the vocals of the song, I could not understand how someone could leave someone and still love them. Now I do. Sometimes, if we truly love someone, we may have to let them go. They may need to find themselves. We may need to find out who we are.
Next, there is "Here and Now" by Luther Vandross. Oh my God! When I get married again, that will be my wedding song. Hopefully that will be my last wedding. Just kidding. I do know the feeling of looking into someones eyes and realizing that they mean the world to you. I know the feeling of looking into someone's eyes and feeling like you have touched heaven. The song speaks of faithfulness. It speaks of the seriousness of wedding vows. If you can sit in a room alone and listen to this song without crying, you have a heart of stone.
There is a song by the Bangles entitled "Eternal Flame". This song is an absolutely beautiful serenade. Whoever wrote that song must have been head over heels in love. The song talks about feeling like being in a dream. This song is from the 80s. I was in elementary school when the song was released. I remember singing it while looking in the mirror. I had my hairbrush as my microphone. The song was sang tenderly. It was touching and soothing to the soul. It is a good song for a wedding too.
There is a love song by Beyonce Knowles-Carter, "Dangerously in Love". It talks about having someone who loves you for who you are. It talks about companionship. I watched a live performance of the song. The words are genuine, simple. If you have never heard it before, you may want to give it a listen.
My favorite love song is a Christian love song. This song is simply titled "Love" by Kirk Franklin. It talks about the nature of true love. Very few people ever experience or show true love. Some of the characteristics of true love are patience, kindness, gentleness, and selflessness. Selflessness is the opposite of selfishness. This song expresses the love of Christ. It says"The nights that I cried, you loved me. When I should have died, you loved me. I'll never know why you loved me." There is no greater love.
