In search of vacation ideas, in need of a short weekend getaway spot, or just want to try something different? A favorite escapes from reality is a visit to Minneapolis, Minnesota and spending a few days hanging out downtown exploring the vast Minneapolis Skyway System.

Minneapolis's skyway system and the downtown area in general are a recommended addition to a persons winter time to do list due to the fact that Minneapolis is in Minnesota which to some is considered the frigid north, this article is being written in the middle of February when the temperatures still hit the lower 30's, and a good snow or ice storm is very likely time of the year.

Because of these factors downtown Minneapolis offers an amazing and safe alternative with its skyway system. This means even during the most inclement conditions or during the coldest parts of the year you can walk from almost any hotel to any of the stores, restaurants, and nightclubs downtown without even having to bundle up in your winter clothing.

In order to fully appreciate all that downtown Minneapolis has to offer it is recommended that during your visit you spoil yourself a little bit on the hotel room and dinning choices. Enjoy the higher end hotels which offer room services, extremely comfortable beds, and plush interiors, The Graves 601 (www.graves601hotel.com), is an extremely nice place with beds that are second to none. They are so nice in fact that a person finds they have to practically force themselves out of bed. This hotel also offers a stocked in-room bar and snack counter, Wi-Fi connection, and a very large flat panel television.

If you do get the urge to leave the hotel room the hotel it is located next to the downtown Minneapolis Warehouse District (www.mplswarehouse.com) connected right to the hotel by the skyway system. There is a movie theater complex, several nightclubs, bowling alley, many top-rated restaurants, and a spa.

Across the street is the Target Center (www.targetcenter.com) which brings all the biggest acts and shows on an almost nightly basis to downtown. The skyway system connects most of the major hotels to the majority of downtown Minneapolis so you can spend an entire weekend just exploring and seeing all the sights, shops, museums, and other offerings the downtown area has to offer.

The downtown Minneapolis area is not advertised as heavily as it should be and many people have no idea what it even has to offer. It is highly recommend to anyone and it is sure to offer a fun and interesting time to a wide variety of people. There are more things to do there than any one person could ever fit into one weekend alone. And everything is very easy to access without even having to put your coat on. The Minneapolis skyway system is a must see unique getaway vacation idea.
