Businesses that could benefit from the Swine Flu

by Corrie Bryant

Created on: April 29, 2009

Currently there is an influenza virus known as " Swine Flu" sweeping the world. The virus was first discovered in Mexico. The U.S. is also possibly closing off the border to Mexico to stop the spread of this virus. The virus is almost rated as a pandemic. As of now there have been 91 confirmed cases in the U.S. alone. Only five of these cases were severe enough to require hospitalization, resulting in one death of a toddler from Texas. The toddler and his family recently returned from a visit to Mexico. There have also been 29 U.S. Marines at the Twenty-nine Palms military base in California that have been quarantined. Even though many are suffering during this time of fear and panic there are those that will benefit from the virus.

Pharmaceuticalcompanies will benefit the most from this virus. There will be the constant need to provide vaccinations and medications to cure and prevent the virus from spreading. The government already has a stock pile of vaccines but many more will need to be manufactured. The government is also still studying the virus, therefore new and improved medications will be needed. Pharmaceutical companies also manufacture face mask, gloves, hand sanitizer and other products to protect our selves from the disease. It is almost certain that the sales of these products have sky rocketed since the out break began. Pharmacies will also benefit from the virus. Many prescriptions will be given by doctors for antibiotics to kill the virus.

Hospitals all over the world are admitting patients with symptoms of the Swine Flu. Wither the patients have insurance or not the hospital will still be getting paid for their services. Due to the severity of Swine Flue many people who may have flu like symptoms that actually are not infected may still admit themselves to a hospital for evaluation. They would rather be safe than sorry. Doctors offices are also experiencing a rise in business, with more appointments being scheduled.

At some point, if not already, the government will also benefit from the outbreak. Because of our advanced technology and funds for advanced study, countries that do not have our technology will turn to us for help. We will provide them with the vaccinations and medication they may need to end the outbreak. The possibilities are endless as to who may benefit from the virus. But those who will not benefit from it will out weigh those of us who do.
