There are thousands of web sites about soap operas on the Internet, but it is rare to find one as complete and professional as http://www.SoapNet.com . The SoapNet television network is the brainchild of ABC TV, but both the TV station and the web site are a soap fan's dream. They even feature shows which are not traditionally considered soap operas!
On my visit to SoapNet.com this morning, I was pleased that the site loaded quickly, despite having numerous photographs and videos available. Navigation is simple, with drop down menus for shows and for extras, and buttons to click to bring you articles about stars and styles. There is also a search box where you can type in what you are looking for within the site and it will be found for you in snap.
Although there is some advertising on the web site, it is not intrusive or bothersome. In fact, most of it is either at the very top of the Home Page, or off to the right in a side bar.
Pictures and videos make SoapNet.com stylish and hip, but not overly flashy or loud. In addition to news bytes videos and interview clips, you can also watch entire episodes of "General Hospital" and "The View".
Other options are links for "Where Are They Now" which brings you up to date on stars who have moved on to other things, "Daily Previews" with tidbits of what to watch for on the current day's episodes, "Recaps" in case you missed a day or a week even, "Comings and Goings" to give you all the latest casting news, and "Features" which are current and interesting.
Message boards make the web site not only user friendly, but also interactive. You will need to register to post on the boards. Once you have registered, you will then be required to login in with your user name and password on each visit.
SoapNet is updated at least once a day, which will drive true fans to visit often. As I mentioned at the top of this article, you don't have to be a fan of the soap opera genre to enjoy the site. They include all sorts of information on shows from A-Y (no Z though!).
These shows run the gamut from "All My Children" to the SoapNet original show "Being Erica", along with "Desperate Housewives", "Grey's Anatomy", "The OC", "Ugly Betty", and "The Young and the Restless".
Tune in to your favorite TV shows, then click on to Soapnet.Com and get the latest scoop, gossip, recaps, and find out what other fans are saying. It's all good!
