You awaken one morning to find that the rain outside your house is now in your house. To your horror you discover that your roof is leaking. A through examination tells you that it time to get a new roof. Now is the time to consider the advantages of metal roofing.
The main advantage of a metal roof is that it will save you money. While metal roofs seem to be more expensive than shingles, in the long run they actually save you money in a variety of ways. With more and more people investing in their homes for longer and longer periods of time, they are finding that shingles need to be replaced every 20 years or so. Metal roofs last the lifetime of your home. Which means, that you are saving the expense of re-roofing again in the future. With the cost of roofing materials and labor being what they are today, that is a substantial savings.
Another way metal roofs save money is they are highly energy efficient, which means it will save you on your heating costs in the winter and airconditioning costs in the summer. For people who live in areas where their heating or cooling bills are high, this will be a substancial savings year after year. And thanks to the new stimulus package, upgrading to a more energy efficient home by purchasing a metal roof will allow you to get a tax credit for 30% of the cost of the materials and for $1,500 dollars on your home.
Metal roofs may also reduce your insurance rates. Since they are fire and high wind resistant, many insurance companies lower insurance rates when a metal roof is installed.
Over time metal roofing can literally pay for themselves and save you thousands of dollars. While this alone is a major advantage of metal roofs, there are others.
Metal roofs are environmentally clean. In many cases metal roofs can be placed over existing roofing material, saving the need to remove the old shingles and cart them away to a landfill.
Metal roofs can also increase the value of your home. Not only because they are more energy efficient but because they are beautiful. Metal roofs comes in a variety of finishes, designs, and colors, which will give your home added curb side appeal. While shingles do not detract from a homes value, metal roofs can actually add to it.
And for those of you who live in areas where large amounts of snow is a problem. Metal roofs, hold an advantage there. Saving the home owner, either hours of labor removing snow from the roof, or money hiring someone else to remove the snow for them. Snow slides right off metal roofs that have any kind of pitch, easing either a physical burden or a financial one.
With the saving of time, money and labor it is easy to see why more and more people are choosing the advantages of metal roofs over shingles.
