TV show reviews: Two and a Half Men

Have we honestly come to a point in the world where we cannot watch a comedy show without over-analysing the humour right out of it? Having read some of the previous articles published to this title I am disgusted. "Two and a Half Men" is a great show, a funny show actually. It's for entertainment; it's not an attack on women, it's not promoting divorce, it's not promoting drunkenness. It's a comedy show. It's for entertainment.

I was so excited to find the TV show review article for "Two and a Half Men" as it is my favourite television program. I watch it whenever I can and when I went without cable for a few months, I would find the newest articles online to watch them (which I did not do for any other program except for "General Hospital"!).

The thing that disgusts me most about the attacks on "Two and a Half Men" is the complete neglect in the theme of love that is prevalent throughout the series. Now that the plot has developed further, Charlie Harper (drunker bachelor) has found himself engaged and committed to one woman. The other characters have also grown with the plot. Jake has grown from an empty headed child to a sarcastic and humorous teenager. And then there is Alan who has changed throughout the seasons from a pathetic loser to a comical loser. This series has done all of these actors extremely well.

While I would love to sit here all day inquiring as to what makes people over-analyse comedic programming and get defensive about people complaining about my absolute favourite television show; I'll just take this time to explain some of my favourite parts of the show.

"Two and a Half Men" is a great show. It's about another dysfunctional family (who can't relate to that nowadays) that has taken a funny twist. It is humorous to see the growing and changing relationship between Charlie and Alan (or even Charlie and Jake, and Alan and Jake). While they claim to have the same feelings for each other as they did when Alan first moved himself in, it is clear that they have developed an enjoyment from one another. And a humour one at that!

Each of the men (including Jake) have developed comical, stereotypical roles. Charlie is the bachelor/drunk who has fallen in love. Alan is the pathetic, forty-year-old divorced man and Jake is the empty-headed, sarcastic teenager entering the world of huge world of hormones and bad influences!

The show is great! Amazing actually! It's humourous and it's just fun to watch. I can't wait to see what episode is coming on next week!

For those of you that have lead perfect lives and do not find the humour in shows like this, I recommend that you stop watching television and save the rest of us from your grief.
