A Spiritual Awakening....

Have you noticed a "Negative Atmosphere" hanging around all of us lately? Have you noticed your friends and neighbors even your family looking unhappy and maybe a bit angry? Do you find yourself cursing more and more as your day goes by? Do you seem to find the negative, in just about everything that you do? When was the last time you really felt, happy, elated, joy, peace or even content? Do you on a daily basis determine what your days are going to be like based on how others are towards you?

I remember the days when, it was a pleasure talking to your neighbors; welcoming new families into your neighborhood. I remember the days when our childhood friends would talk hours upon hours about our future and plans for our lives. I remember when teachers actually sat down and explained the work set before you in greater details, rather than just sending you home to let you and your parents figure out the problems yourselves. I remember when we had respect for our teachers and the school administrators. I remember the days when children respected their elders, and treated them as if they were gold. I remember spending the weekends with our families, forgetting all our troubles and care of that week behind us; hoping that the weekends would go on forever. I remember helping the elderly with any task that they asked of us, not in hopes of getting that shiny new quarter, but, because we felt it our privilege and duty to do so. I remember when TV and movies were fun and wholesome and adventurous. I remember that one good book I read and hoped to read more like them. I remember the times I talked and shared with my sweetheart, hoping that the nights would go on for ever and that our love would never end.

I have been thinking lately about all these things and more as they weigh heavily upon my mind and heart...this country I feel, is in need of a spiritual change. Here are a few things that I am going to do, to try and better myself and hopefully those around me will benefit from my fruits and examples-

1. I am going to, say hello to all I meet (and when asked) "How are you?" I will stop, tell them and wait for a reply back. Often we never stop to listen to that reply, are we that much in a hurry that we just nonchalantly ask "How are you?" and never seem to care or even wait for a reply? I will speak to anyone that I greet, be they old, young, rich or poor.

2. I am going to stay in touch with all my friends and families, asking them all about their
