Poetry: No cure

by Kelan Putnam

Created on: April 29, 2009

while he stubs

his cigarette out

underneath the seat

of a Lexus

brand new

I like him less

while racing through

stop signs

red lights

although he is in

no hurry

I cannot wait

to undress,

alone, at home

he takes sharp corners

unnecessary risks

turning to him

laughing

my eyes promise

as my body

repulsed

wants

escape

only he doesn't

understand

or refuses to

since

he believes in us

in me

as I look out

for some street

to escape

to shake

his dreams away
