Lifestyles: Enjoying the morning bliss

There is no air like the morning air. No day is like the day that begins with a little time to appreciate the morning. There is no sun like the sun that hasn't yet made its way higher than the rooftops; so find the window where the sun first visits your home, and set up a little place for some morning bliss.

You don't need a lot of space - just enough of an appealing one. You don't need a lot of fancy furniture. A nice chair and a small table are about all you need. Although the morning sun may be enough color to brighten the day's start, adding your flowers or a particularly nice tablecloth or place mat can make things all the nicer.

Unless there is extreme Winter weather, let in some fresh, morning, air. The weather may determine whether you open a window a crack or enough to make you feel as if you're outside, but morning air has a way of making you feel glad you're alive.

Morning bliss tends to be most blissful when we don't have to think about what we're going to wear, so aiming to enjoy this lovely morning ritual after getting ready for the day is a good idea.

Add your favorite "niceties" to your morning space. That could be a ready-to-light potpourri burner with your favorite scent. It could be the morning newspaper you have delivered to your door. Since there's nothing "un-blissful" about making a list of things to do for the day, consider keeping an attractive notepad or notebook nearby. Don't forget your favorite radio or television program if that's an important part of your morning for you. Whether it's a "eye opener" news, an enjoyable radio talk show, or your favorite music; sometimes television or radio can actually add something that helps define a routine.

Morning bliss can, of course, be shared; so adding an extra chair or including a call to someone special (if it's not too early) can be other niceties.

Plan to enjoy your first cup of coffee or tea, or your orange juice, in your special "morning space". Since making a big breakfast is usually neither practical nor particularly blissful, consider a quick, light, and healthy breakfast instead. You may even prefer to have breakfast later and limit the morning to bliss to that great cup of coffee (or two) or that nice glass of orange juice.

Our days are what we make them, and (unless we work the graveyard shift) our days begin with morning. There is no day quite like the day that begins with a little morning bliss.
