As a writer, you don't live in outer space. You are a part of an ever changing and dynamic world. Therefore, keep yourself in touch with current writing trends. Read handbooks on writing. Subscribe to journals and magazines. Join a writing website or two. From all these, you will learn a lot and sharpen your writing skills.

TIPS NO. 4.

Write For Free:

You cannot become a better writer if you don't practice writing. For this reason, it is recommended that you should not always write for purely financial reasons. Write for free sometimes. The trick here is to hone your skills and get better as a writer. Your writing skills will eventually get to pay off big time.

TIP NO. 5.

Write To Become:

As a writer, there are times you are tempted to write for certain markets just to pick up some easy money. This is not in your interest if you want to become a better writer. Your aim motto be this: "write to become and not to acquire".

TIP NO. 6.

Receive Training:

Writing is not, and should not be, an all comer's affairs. You need to receive some training if you want to become a better writer. Check out and attend prestigious workshops/seminars on writing. An online writing program is also a great idea. These would make you a better writer because you will learn a lot from these programs.

TIP NO. 7.

Have a Critic:

It is not very easy to be your own literary critic. Therefore, get a trusted friend who has a bit of literary know-how to critique your work. You can also take the extreme step of sending your work to some outfits that offer this service for a small fee. This is a step in the right direction because you will receive valuable insights and feedback about your work.

Finally, understand that becoming a better writer is completely in your own hands. Therefore, you have to make the resolution to get better yourself. You then follow through by taking all the necessary steps to become a better writer. This is the formula that all writers use and it is bound to work for you as well.
