Poetry: Thank you, Dad

by Debora Spadafora

ODE TO MY DAD

My father was a man of very few words

Never looking backward but always working towards

A life for his children filled with hope and contentment

And he sacrificed a great deal to meet this commitment.

As kids we sometimes never understood his reasons

But he taught us to be strong and make the right decisions

Now that we have grown up we can understand more clearly

All that he taught us and we love him so very dearly.

Our only regret, and this is so very sad

Is that we were a little too late to say thank you dad

But I am sure he is listening and he will hear

How much we all love him and he will always be near.
