The different types of over-the-counter cold and flu remedies

This article is my personal experience with standard over-the-counter remedies for cold and flu. Therefore I will personalize this issue of OTC remedies to myself. Please consult your own health care sources, review your own unique medical history, and find your own expert advice before using any information here. Consider this article as my personal journal, not a general guideline for medical treatment.

Recently, on the web, I found some general advice to wait until you have a cold or the flu before taking treatments which might work, for example, against this current 2009 Mexican outbreak of swine flu. I am not an MD, but I am 70 years of age, half the people my age are dead. Note: I only use these mushroom extracts when I have symptoms, such as a runny nose, but also when my body fat causes me to hit the wall, which happens when I fast for several hours, and my body starts to burn saturated fats. These extracts help turn LDL fats to HDL fats without having to run a marathon, but a little bit of aerobics wouldn't hurt.

Check with your MD before taking any type of over-the-counter remedy, but I have been using these mushroom extracts for twenty years without any viral stuff like colds or flu hanging around for more than a day or two. These extracts expel the viruses before they get to an endothelial cell to reproduce. Also protect your eyes in public places, such as outdoors, or on a crowded bus. Some research shows the surface of the eye is the most exposed to viral entry, but viruses need to travel many'VIRAL LIGHT YEARS' away from the surface of the eye to find an endothelial cell, so there is plenty of time to expel them from your body. Get an annual flu shot, and any other annual immunizations, from decent sources like your own MD, especially new ones that are developed for a particular virus outbreak.

Note: Shiitake and maitake mushrooms are available in fresh produce sections of many major grocery stores. Reishi is not edible in natural form, so it is available as an over-the-counter extract. Various forms of these remedies are available in health food stores, such as teas, and seasonings.
