Over the years, I have played around with different blogs and CMS software. Wordpress is what I like to call multipurpose software. It does double up as both a blog and content management software and I use it for both. I currently am using both the single version and multiple user version of the software.

What I find about Wordpress is that it does not seem to be resource hungry like some other cms based scripts out there. In fact it is relatively easy to install. With each version, the installation process has managed to get easier and easier. I remember a time where I had to open up a file and manually add what needed to be added. Now, you do not have to do that anymore. I believe it was between 2.5 and 2.6 that you didn't have to manually add that information. You can just install it and follow the on screen instructions.

Regardless, no matter which way I had to do it, I knew what I was doing and never got confused about what to do. I have experience on the installation process and it is something that is second nature to me even if that means thinking just a little bit.

Some things I really liked about wordpress is how easy it really is. For one, it is very light weight so that is a good thing as you don't really want to have a piece of software that takes a long time to load or take up a lot of resources. That is something you don't want for obvious reasons.

Some things that can cause problems and with that I wish was better is that html and css compatibility in your posts. It does not always handle line breaks that well without using another html code that we don't normally use. I prefer to use the br or the p tags, but wordpress is funny in that way.

One other thing is that wordpress is highly configurable. They have a big user base when it comes to themes and plugins. What I mean by that is a lot users have designed them for wordpress and then in return most of the time share it with everyone else. If we didn't have that, we would not be where we are today with wordpress. It is only human nature to want to improve on somethings. Having some knowledge does go a long way. I could never ever dream of ever trying to create a plugin, but it is very possible that I could design a themes or skin for it though. If you have the knowledge, you can do it.

The one thing that I do like about the latest wordpress update is if you want plugins now, you do not have to go to wordpress's website to download them anymore. You can download them right from your admin panel in wordpress where you can install and activate the plugin. Now if only they had the same thing working for the themes, we would definitely be in business.
