Writing for Helium: How to obtain feedback for your writing

Helium is a great community and if you are looking for feedback for your writing it is very simple. Ask and you shall receive. It is that simple and there are a few different places that you can go to get the feedback you are seeking. Whether you are looking for in depth feedback or you are simply looking for a validation that your writing is good you can work toward getting it all.

Article Ratings and Writing Stars.

Your articles will be rated in the article grouping. This can often give you an idea that your writing is doing well. It is true that not all of your articles will be ranked at the top of their article grouping. However, you can feel great about work well done. You can also see if you need more work on your articles. Writing starts are an excellent way to determine if you are doing a good job. After all, if you can write well enough to receive the writing stars then you are doing a good job. If not, then you need to put a little more work into your articles.

Direct Peer Feedback.

Often times it really isn't enough just to get a few blue stars or a few good rankings. After all, while these things make you feel good, they don't let you know how you can improve your writing and what you can do to make it better. The Writing Critiques Forum gives you the opportunity to post your articles, ask specific questions about your writing, and receive feedback from your peers. You can also take the time to help others. Doing peer reviews or reading other's writing and giving them feedback can help you grow in your writing. This feedback can also be tailored to meet your specific needs by asking specific questions that relate to your specific articles.

Helium Help.

Helium has a great team, both that work for Helium and that volunteer here. Because of that you can go to the Helium team and get a peer review of your work. Simply e-mail content@helium.com and use "peer review" in the subject. Give them the title of your work, the correct URL to the piece, and ask any questions that you have. They will get back to you fairly quickly and will share with you some suggestions on improving your writing.

Channel Help.

Each channel has a channel steward and most sub-channels have a sub-channel steward. All of these people are very helpful. If you write for a channel or sub-channel often you should feel free to contact the stewards in that channel and talk with them about your work. They are all very friendly, helpful, and many of them enjoy helping out writers in their channel. After all, as your writing improves, so does their channel!

With all the help around here you won't have trouble getting all sorts of feedback for your writing. Whether you want it for a single article or for lots of them, all you need to do is ask. Starting with the forums is a great place and moving upward as needed can be a great use of your resources. Feedback from Helium's friendly and helpful community is right around the corner. All you have to do is ask.
