Metal roofing has come a long way in the world of roof building. Even today some people hear the words "metal roof" and think of thick wavy metal on top of industrial buildings and sheds. They think flat and boring. But if that is what they think about metal roofing today, they are not only wrong, but missing out on some great advantages to having metal roofs over the usual asphalt, wood shingles, or clay.

Some great advantages to having a metal roof are:

1. Metal roofs are surprisingly light weight. In fact, they are light weight enough to build over existing roofs if needed. This can help in saving a ton of money in renovation cost.

2. Metal is fireproof, in fact if you have a straight metal roof on your building you will find it registers in the A class which may help save money on your homeowners insurance. In today's day and age we all love saving money.

3. Heat reflective. This is great in keeping your house cool. Metal roof's can save you money on your air conditioning cost. The mid day sun has nothing on these roofs.

4. Quick and easy install. You can easily cut days off the install with these roofs.

5. When something goes wrong on your roof or for whatever reason you need to get on your roof you can easily walk on this roof. But always remember safety because you are still up high and there still may be dangers. Just because you can do something doesn't always mean you should. This can help you cut cost in hiring a roofer to come out.

6. Metal roofs are very resistant to weather issue. In fact, some insurance companies offer a reduced rate for metal roof damage from storms.

7. Metal roof's have a higher life expectancy than most conventional roof types. The warranties usually cover anywhere from 20-50 years. The warranties are also usually transferable from owner to owner which can increase the resale value of your home. Not needing to replace the roof for up to 50 years is another money saving factor to owning a metal roof.

All of these advantages make meal roofing a good way to save money. When looking to buy a new roof or replace the one you already have make sure you add metal roof to your list of possibilities. You will find that technology has helped the metal roof industry come a long way. Most of the roofs can be made to look like regular roofs; Spanish tile, slate, or asphalt to name a few. You also have your choice of colors. You may find out that the metal roof is the right choice for your home.
