World peace is a form of perfection. Humans as a whole and individually are far from perfection so it is easy to see why we as a race haven't made peace with each other despite all the reasons why we should. Though a certain kind of peace is obtainable we must measure what is holding us back from achieving it and then move forward to change these circumstances so that we may all live in unity.
One of the largest problems the world's leaders face is land. Borders and boundaries are found all over the world, from continental borders, country borders, state, county, city, town, district and the next yard, boundaries surround us wherever we go. These borders aren't for the convenience of the people who live in them, but a stake for the people who own them. They're concerned too much with how much land they have and whether they can get more rather than thinking about the land adjacent to them for a second. There are nations that go to war with each other almost in the same manner that a man might get angry at a neighbor for trimming the hedges on his side of the fence. Land is a hugely upsetting issue; to solve it the world must become one nation, a goal that seems very far off into the future.
Another problem working against world peace is religion. A lot of people think and would agree that religion is the solution to world peace, and in some form it can be, but the current state that religion serves for humans in this world is incapable of giving world peace. Religion is the source of numerous wars in the past and to date and many disputes within its own denominations. Even if the world were to be under the same faith then that faith would break down into sub-faiths and we would have all the same problems all over again. We need to break beliefs away from congregations and religion and base them on an individual level. If we're able to do this then we'll all start look at each other for who we are instead of who we belong to.
I think what it really comes down to is being right. Everyone wants to be right. Our land is right, we're right to have your land, our government has the right idea, and our faith is the right one, thoughts like these that are holding us back. Our entire species is so preoccupied with being right that we never think we're wrong, or can't even admit that we are. The collective human race needs to step back and know that we're all wrong. Every single one of us needs to look inside ourselves and find out who we are to we'll be better suited to understanding others. We're so busy with changing everyone else that we forgot to work on ourselves. We need to be more secure with whom we are and then a certain form of world peace will become available. There will always be squabbles, and fights, and homicides- but this peace can be obtained. We just need to start working on the outside in instead of the other way around.
