In the wee hours, I close my eyes.
Cats curled up, noses in tails,
I roll onto my side and curl up,
but sleep does not come to me.
The dog, curled up on the hearth-side rug,
begins to snore.
I envy them all, while listening to the hoot of a night owl
outside my window, the bird that sleeps all day.
Morning softly settles down on my restless legs,
and some dimwitted bird sing his joy
at awakening to a new day.
Sleep finally comes to me,
when I must rise.
Oh, to be an owl!
Oh, to sleep all day!
And oh, to roam the sleepless night!

Poetry: Insomnia
Take a pill for this and take a pill for that
Lock the doors, turn out the lights and don't forget the cat
Put on your pj's
I’m trapped again in this dizzy dance
Where I writhe alone, spinning
In this restless trance.
Back and forth as the tide

Insomnia
No sleep.
No escape.
She is haunting the house now, moving like shadow;
Light as a whisper in the almost- morning
No
by Jon Coe
I wish to sleep, on heavy eyes
just one minute, please tantalize
But alas, as soon as I begin to dream
I am awakened, by this
by C.M. Tucker
If windows would close long enough,
Maybe unexpected dreams would rise
And challenge pain
That keeps insomnia company.
