Poetry: Young love

by June McGee

Created on: April 26, 2009

And I dwell now, upon those things which have passed

For what could have beenperhaps should have been

You were the sunshine which awakened me each morning

And made going to school easier to manage

For certainly I would see you there

And oh, your smile

Your curls, your eyes, the longing presence

And just to brush against your shoulder, your arm

As we walked together to the few classes we shared

Parted then as my family had to move

From our residence to a far away place

And I saw you but once there after

You had not changed in all those years

But I had and you no longer new me

I said not a word and turned, a little sadly, away

There is so much that I would now do and say

But what is not to be is just plain not to be

And though it hurts, there are some things

Which are best left alone

Strange how I think of you every now and again

Where you are, what you are doing

And with bittersweet reminiscence I recall

Your touch, the smell of your hair

And Young Love
