NOT MY THOUGHTS

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. Isaiah 55:8

I knew that I needed a change at work. Coming into chaos everyday didn't do much for keeping my peace. I found myself spending my driving time every morning praying for peace. I just wanted to remember in every situation, that I am a child of God and to represent Him correctly. Some days I even asked God to have the duct tape ready for my mouth if needed! Without fail, on the return trip later in the afternoon, I would find myself repenting for thoughts I had had during the day.

I just really wanted to change my work environment. So when an opening presented itself, I applied. How I praised God when I got the position. Changed work environment and no more driving 45 minutes each way to work and back; what more could I ask for?

I had no idea how perfectly God had set me up!

Five days before starting in the new position, I found out my husband had prostate cancer. That word cancer is one of the most dreaded words there is even with all the medical advances there are. Cancer, now there was even more to deal with than the chaos at work! I just wanted a peace that would carry me through my day. My devotional time in the morning before I faced my day was always so good, but I craved a way to be able to carry that with me through the day. I felt that I was letting the Lord down by loosing my cool midday. People seldom saw me loose it, but I knew that my thoughts weren't as kind as I would like and my husband certainly got his ears full when he asked me how my day went!

The first day, I started in my new position, I realized what God had really done for me, how He had set me up before I knew how much I would need it. I walked into an atmosphere where there was no apparent animosity between employees. No more arguing over every little decision to be made. There was an established order to the way things were to be done. The people I met were helpful and accepting. Everyone I met seemed to know what I was going through. They let me know that they were there for me if I just needed to someone to talk to.

God is so good and because He can see the beginning to the end of our lives, He provides for us in better ways than we can even imagine to ask Him for. I am glad that He is not limited by our imperfect human views on what we think is good for us. His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways. Praise Him!

Thank you Lord for meeting our needs before we even ask. Thank you that You view our lives as a whole not just as our current crisis. Thank You for Jesus whose death at Calvary met all our needs. In His Precious Name, the Name above all Names, Amen.
