Think that a Universal Healthcare System is what's best for the USA?
An old adage is never to discuss, religion, politics or sex amongst friends, colleagues or strangers for that matter, as those 3 subjects are a sure fire way to bring about the most heated discussions as the subjects themselves along with those who carry their own opinions on them, always vary from one extreme to another.....
Despite that sage advice, the subject of Universal Health care must be discussed and even dissected at length in order for people to gain a true understanding of it's workings; the good, the bad and the ugly......
One only has to research individuals who themselves have personally experienced a Universal Health care System to truly know its workings... Particularly if those individuals had a serious illness such as cancer or other debilitating disorders/diseases that require a multitude of tests, medications and long term medical treatment.
The most common misconception that people have is the belief that a Universal Health care System entitles a citizen to Carte' Blanche access at will to a great limitless health care system. And in all honesty, who wouldn't want a system like that, especially if it didn't cost one anything?
One major area many do not consider is the BILLION dollar question: "Who is paying for it?" and the answer is to the amazement of few is that it is our government which really means "Us, the taxpayer". The United States government as it stands to date is currently broke and raising taxes on the citizens of the USA in order to pay for its current debt which is the highest on record to date... Ever hear of the saying "You can't get blood from a turnip?"
That is actually the most common belief and misconception behind the supporters of Universal Health care.... A virtual Utopia if you will of the best medicine has to offer and all at a zero price tag for those who have access to it.... Unfortunately, as with most Utopia's, it is a gross misrepresentation of what the system truly is and in all reality a mirage, and remember.. Nothing is truly for free, everything has a price tag...
First and foremost, it must be clarified that no where in our founding fathers Constitution of the United States of America does it list anywhere that it is the responsibility of the government to pay for, supply or even organize a health care government sponsored system for its citizens..... This is an area that appears to be completely overlooked by the followers of this Universal
