Thoughts on online dating

Computers are a fascinating mind blowing invention. Who would have ever dreamed that they could help in your everyday life! This electronic brain can help you with your finances, plan your vacation, or suggest a favorite recipe, or restaurant for your next dining pleasure.

Did you ever think that this electronic mastermind could help you find your soul mate? Years ago computer dating was once considered a dangerous method to meet other singles. Telling your family and friends was hard enough; it somehow placed a negative plague on the union for life. This opened a cage of Lies, and deceit that the couple made up to spare them from well-meaning, nosey relatives.

After I left my husband, and found a new townhouse to rent, my trusty PC was one of the first things I needed to set up. It took me a good week to get everything organized and ready to start my new life.

I was entering the New World of dating, after being married for most of my life; it was a rather dramatic change to say the least. The excitement was overwhelming, of possibly meeting my future soul mate. On the other side of the coin, was the overpowering fear of the unknown that never left my mind for a minute, but this was something I needed to do. I had to move on, and continue my life to see how it plays out. Like a great Mystery Novel, with a lot of romance.

I placed a free ad in Match.com, and Date.com for starters; it was a great self-esteem pick- me up when I got winks. After a short time, it felt like a business with all my new responses. A secretary would of come in handy. Apparently, Match and Date.com sold my Name to other sites, and I had more emails and IM's that I knew what to do with.

For a while, I had three dates a week, and with a fulltime job, I was busy. Raising two teenagers made things even harder being single. However, my daughter did help me greatly with getting pictures posted online, and with my new wardrobe to be a hip mom of today.

During the next two years, I dated numerous men, of all kinds. My shortest date lasted an hour, by then you should know if there is any chemistry. If not why waste precious time, life is too short, and when you're middle age it is even shorter.

I was wined and dined, and experienced many things. One of the best things I learned was who I was, and what I wanted in a man, and in my life. When you date, somehow it is like looking in a mirror, it all seems so clear.

The more you proclaim the story about your life to possible prospects, the more it confirms who you are.

Remember I said my shortest date lasted one hour; well my longest date is still going on, with my husband Rob. We have been married now almost two years.

Computer dating is wonderful devise! It gives you time to get to know someone, before you actually meet. You can talk on the computer until you feel it is right to finally come face to face. In addition, of course always meet at a public place for the first date. You must keep yourself safe, and making it a double date can be a lot more fun!
