Senator Chris Dodd. The real reason he will face major re-election problems in 2010.
As I'm sure we are all well aware of by now. Senator Chris Dodd used extremely poor judgement when he stated for the record, that he had absolutely nothing to do with the change of wording in the legislation involving the Wall Street Bail-Out. Which by the way, passed through Congress without a hitch. This stellar piece of legislation allowed the failed company CEO's to keep their multi-million dollar Golden Parachute Bonuses! Even after they had failed miserably, in their responsibilities to the stockholders of their respective companies! This was without a doubt, the most serious mistake of Senator Dodd's political career!
Lest we forget. These same Wall Street financial giants, had just recently recieved literally billions of dollars in TARP funds. Payed for of course, by the American taxpayer! When Senator Dodd made his now, infamous statement about having absolutely nothing to do with this heinous piece of legislation. It was later proved to be a pure Canard! In plain english my friends, an outright lie!
So. In reference to the title of this article," Why does Senator Dodd face re-election problems in the 2010 Conneticut election? The answer is glaringly self-evident, for the entire country to see! So, let's be honest here. Even though the American people are for the most part, a forgiving group of people. Even the citizens of his home state would have an extremely hard time, justifying the re-election of someone who was caught in a bald-face lie of such magnitude! Especially one in which it directly affected the life's and finance's of every tax paying citizen in America! This particular incident pretty much shattered Senator Dodd's credibility!
Then of course we come to the true heart of the matter, for any politician seeking to be re-elected. Campaign Finance! If the last estimated figures are correct, and I'm assured they are. Senator Dodd has only been able to raise approximately four thousand dollars or so from his constituency, in his home state of Connecticut! This my friends, will mean the certain slow death of the good Senator's political career. Instead of actually even attempting to seek office again. He should instead just bow out gracefully, because this is one of those particular situation's that absolutely, will not, just fade away! Because of the state of the economy when this statement was made, this will remain in the memories of the people of this country for some time to come!
So. In conclusion of this article. Senator Dodd made the one truly unforgivable mistake, that can be made by any career politician. That was the mistake of making a public statement that left him absolutely no room to maneuver, if the truth ever came to the surface. Unfortunately for the good Senator. In this particular case thats exactly what happened, and nothing will ever change the outcome!
