In recent days, Barack Obama has demoted presidential politics to a childish game of tattle-tale. "Bush did this; Bush did that. He was a racist bigot; you can trust me cuz I'm black!" (And whose vice president said, "You cannot go to a 7-eleven unless you have a slight Indian accent"?)
Since he took the oath of office, President Obama has systematically weakened our armed forces leaving our fighting men and women in greater danger than ever before. On April 16th he released four sensitive CIA memos which both revealed and condemned America's enhanced interrogation techniques.
Obama has yet to realize two important facts: First, whatever a terrorist experiences, at the hands of an American soldier, pales in comparison to the eternity in hell that awaited him on the other side of his failed mission! Second of all, it's likely that a terrorist is inflicted with more pain during his favorite Saudi soccer game than during any of our so-called "torture sessions."
Which brings up the question: what is torture? Is it unjust to turn out the lights on a terrorist? Or push him against a wall (after you've both padded the wall and braced the poor man's neck)? If this constitutes a punishable crime then Press Secretary Robert Gibbs deserves the capital sentence. Listening to "I never worked in high school, but I ask your patience on that," harmonized with his constant stuttering and quirky reasoning, makes one prefer an isolated cell in Guantanamo over hearing the man ever again.
But his majesty King Abdullah II, king of the Hashemite kingdom of Jordan, says that the United States tortures. (Note: It's crucial not to get Jordan's king Abdullah confused with Saudi Arabia's king Abdullah - the latter being the one privileged to receive Obama's reverent bow.) It's astonishing as to why international condemnation has been given such precedent over those in charge of our nation's security departments! While content with ignoring the wellbeing of our CIA operatives, the Obama administration caters their foreign policy to the wills of Middle Eastern madmen. AKA: Thy moral-critiquing majesty, King Abdullahacknowledging the sliver in our eye while commissioning "beat-up squads" to keep rule by harming and killing internal "threats" to his rein. God bless his caring soul!
Perhaps it's the touching testimonies from terrorists like Adnan Farhan Abdul Latif which compelled our president to release the damaging documents. Latif pens, "I have seen death so many times. Everything is over, life is going to hell in my situation. America, what has happened to you?" Poor guy! The terrorist training videos must have been slightly misleading when they conveyed Guantanamo Bay as Cuba's Hilton.
But the times are quickly changing. Soon there may be hope for Adnan over a discussion with Joe Biden and a few slurpies.
It's become increasingly clear that Obama would rather prosecute a grudge than protect his country. While our economy falters and our president bows at another's alter, most Americans would rather our government convict, capture, or kill terrorists rather than incriminate the patriot soldiers and policy makers who do just that. Despite Obama, Americans must never turn their back on those who sacrifice their lives and livelihood for our own.
