The best poetry comes... From the heart.

I am seeker of truth, a born watcher of the world with eyes that see a myriad of colors where there is only black and white. I must taste, must see, must examine the world from every perspective to attain my goal, to feel and to finally sift my knowledge to the paper in such a way that it's deemed POETRY. I am a poet. I've been published in countless journals and magazines, have had a publisher come to me to publish a chapbook in 2006, and now have another chapbook due out this year from Puddinghouse.

I was born a poet, have wrote poetry since I was in gradeschool and as such can tell you that one must feel from the heart what one writes on that small piece of parchment (or on the computer, which ever is one's preference.) I prefer the old fashioned pen and paper. I prefer to feel the paper, the pen's movement on the soft whiteness and watch the flowing of words as I push them forward from my mind. As I spout my thoughts to the page, I look internally, think about the object or subject of my verbiage and my heart releases a myriad of feelings. Only then can I transform those feelings to tidbits of writing that form what most call poetry.

Anyone can think of things to write or write about, everyone and anyone can fling words to paper as Pollack threw paint to canvas, but it takes a true artist to create a work of art like Jackson Pollack. A true poet knows this, can spot an imposter trying to pass off rudimentary spouting in a hot second and can spot a person with a gift for turning a phrase into a lovely work of art. Poetry is as any other art, a heartfelt yearning to create, something that must be done, must be said, but said in such a way that it makes one read the writing over and over.
