I want a time without a place
Home imagined without a space
Where addresses will not affirm
These two might love, two might yearn
He's in the rain this April night
She's under stars, no cloud in sight
Holding hands, mountains between
Waking, tomorrow, it'sclear where they'vebeen
Truth, in his grin, she wears one too
"I'm happy," she says, as if nobody knew
"Goodnight and good morning," avoiding goodbye
Conversation beats on, hope breathes a sigh
They've found a time without a place
Home imagined without a space
A heart, awake, can take you there
If brave enough, search out the stair
A door slams closed, the rain hits hard
A tired man lets down his guard
For one more walk, for one more word
And place is suddenly absurd
With palms faced up, he'll catch the rain
And he'll hold hands with her again
