Poetry: Grief

TOGETHER

-

You promised me you would

Live as long as you could

And be there for me

For as long as I can see

You broke your promise

And I walk alone now

Don't know somehow

I thought I can heal

And see it as real

But my life was with you

And we were tied as one

All those years now

Just washed away

Your memories keep me

Going another mile

For how long can I smile

My feet don't carry me

My mind aches to remember

If I had my last breath

It would be soon then

For I can join you

Wherever you are

So can keep that promise

For eternity!
