Myth stood on the ancient cliffs
where Paris carefully crawled down the rope,
with Helen slung over his shoulder,
and Troy fell.
Aeneas sojourned above the cliffs with Dido,
playing at love,
then left her to found a city in Rome,
and Carthage fell.
Travelers landed on the rocky shore,
planted dragons seeds and built Thebes,
then Athens and Corinth arose.
Travelers journeyed far to the cave,
where the Pythia offered fatal advice,
telling riddles to great kings,
then Persia fell,
but in its time, Persia caused Athens to fall.
We tell their stories now,
for they are gone,
but Myth stands on the crumbling cliffs of their legacy.
