How to make a passive income.

Generating a passive income also known as a residual income is something that many people would love to do but may not know how to go about it. Some of these methods are easy enough for anyone to generate a passive income for years to come.

Royalties -

Royalties are one of the traditional forms of passive income. This type of income has been around long before the other methods of passive income. The people that receive royalties include music artists, some actors, writers, and can include anyone who creates something that is bought, used, or accessed over and over again.

The terms and conditions of a royalty income is generally handled on a case by case basis. Depending on the parties involved, the content being sold, and the demand for the content royalties can be pennies a day or thousands of dollars a day.

This kind of income is usually paid out by publishers, record labels, movie studios, and other entertainment related industries. Earning a passive income this way requires a dedication to creating something that people will enjoy and purchase for years to come.

Online writing -

The traditional writing route can lead to advances and royalties. But getting published in the traditional sense can take years and even getting published doesn't automatically mean the author will make a passive income.

But the internet has revolutionized freelance writing. Anyone with knowledge to share and the ability to write quality content can make a passive income online through a variety of online writing sites.

The majority of sites that accept written content include Associated Content, Helium, eHow, Suite101, and many more. Most freelance writers online write for multiple sites and it is advised that work is spread over sites that pay upfront exclusive payments as well as sites that continue to pay residual income for the life of the site.

The income, besides the upfront payments, is generated by page views and paid for by the ads present on the site along with the writing. The site takes a cut and the writer receives a share as well.

The financial potential is unlimited for online writing but it does take some time to build up a large enough portfolio of articles and pieces online to generate a decent passive income.

Google Adsense -

This advertising program is often credited with helping fund and create the online world of passive income. The majority of revenue sharing sites (such as writing sites) use Google Adsense for at least part of their revenue
