The only thing Paris Hilton should be paid to do is to go away and leave us all alone. She fits in perfectly with too many talentless nobodies who are famous for being famous. She has no discernible talents for anything except spending her parents money in as many ways as possible. She has influenced numerous young girls to think that having no talent, no skills and no job is the thing to aspire too in life. She committed a crime and should have received the full sentence, she should have accepted this as a punishment and the gone away in shame to her personal hotel sweet.

Nobody should benefit from a crime but the problem is that many people are interested in her life and crimes. Why this happens I have no idea because I cant see what the attraction is to her life. I can understand people being envious or jealous of her but no why they want to follow her life. NBC knows people will watch and advertisers will advertise during the interview and so the million is a minimal investment bearing in mind the likely returns. They wouldn't offer the money if they didn't know what they would get back. If they must give the money for the interview then it should be given to people who suffer at the hands of people who commit crimes such as Paris Hilton's.

Perhaps with the sentencing, there should be a caveat that says that if found guilty no profit can be made after the period in jail, also that the jail time should be equal to the time all non famous people can expect. The chances of that are perhaps small, but why is the question? They are still people and they still know what is legal and what isn't. You or I couldn't go on television and earn a fortune from our misdemeanours, also we would have spent the full time behind bars that the crime warranted. There is presumably money changing hands and politics interfering; if there is, it makes a mockery of the justice system where celebrities are concerned.

The animal farm quote fits this situation perfectly,"all are created equal but some are more equal then others". These people look like us, breathe like us and eat like us; but when they do something wrong they become a different species all together, a race of people who gets favours based on the column inches they command. The more famous they are the less likely they are to be suitably punished , it's the celebrity version of diplomatic immunity. If you are caught, get off cheaply and then make money from the crime.
