How to get started as a new writer to Helium

Helium offers a great variety of resources for it's writers. If you are a beginner to the Helium way of life, there are a lot of things that you need to know in order to get the best possible start. This site treats you well with the great staff that is in place and the awesome community of writers, you will have no problems getting answers to your questions.

Here are a few tips to help you get started as a new writer to Helium:

Guidelines

This website has strict guidelines that its writers must follow. It is important that you know what is expected of you as a writer and a part of this great community. Although you are free to write anytime you choose, these guidelines will help you determine how to do it with quality. There are some things that are disallowed completely. Reading these guidelines is the first thing that you should do.

Navigate

Before you start writing, take a good look around the site. This will give you a better idea of how things work. Take a peek at some of the other writers work. Visit the community boards and chat a little bit with the people there. Take a look inside the channels to get a better idea of the subjects available. There are many to choose from and eventually you will find yourself writing to many more of them than you ever thought possible.

Writing

Your first article is very important. It is the stepping stone to all other articles. In order to write the best possible first article, use a word processing program such as word. This allows you to save your work as you go. It is also a more reliable way of writing your work. There is nothing more frustrating than putting together a piece of work to only lose it when the internet goes down. Once you are done writing, you can copy and paste it to the site.

Using a word processor also gives you a much better way to edit your work. For instance, you can spell check and grammar check with the program. Just don't forget to re-read your work before posting it. Although a word processing program catches most problems, it won't catch them all.

Be sure that the article is formatted correctly as well. You want to be sure to use paragraphs that include a space between each and correct punctuations is critical. All of these things will help your article rise to the top of the pile.

Rating

This is one of the most important aspects of the site. This is how you earn money. You must have at least one rating star in order to get any payments at all. Rating is what tells the writer how well they are doing
