Savvyauntie.com is a fairly new presence to the web, but it has made quite a splash and a great first impression! Savvy auntie is billed as the webs first community for "cool aunts, great aunts, godmothers, and all women who love kids." While many people assume this site is solely designed for childless women, a quick visit shows that it is great for all women, maybe even some men too even though they may feel a little bit on the outside in some discussions.
At Savvy Auntie what you can expect to find is nearly anything and everything you need to know about how to make the most of your times with the kids as well as a heap of practical advice on tips to watch for to make sure they are growing healthy, remaining safe, and even some neat ways to spoil them a bit. The key to all this is that the advice given concerning all of this is aimed at showing aunts how to do it all without overstepping their boundaries. So what can you expect on your first visit to Savvy Auntie?
The first thing you will notice is that it is well organized and easy to navigate. The home page provides clear functional links to the blogs, recent articles, and comments from users who really drive this thriving and rapidly growing community. The top of the page immediately highlights the sites 4 main areas of advice; Learn and Share, Spoil Them, Things to do, and People Like You. In learn and share advice on how to become the ultimate savvy auntie is compiled from user just like you as well as from "experts" on the subject. The"Spoil Them" section offers practical ways to shower your love on the kids without creating friction with their parents, and more unique and practical gift giving ideas for the kids than you can shake a stick at. One of the most fun areas is the "People Like You" section where you can meet and network with all the savvy aunties of the world. Savvy Auntie also pays special attention to the unique needs of special needs children and how to not only connect with them but how to care for them and make your time with them as fun and productive as possible.
From the functionality standpoint the site has limited advertising and everything appears to work quickly, correctly, and easily. They do offer the opportunity for community participation which does require registration, but there is at this time no fee to join in so it is not a major issue. Savvy Auntie has a presence on facebook and twitter and has gained increasing exposure through both print and television outlets due to it's incredibly unique concept to tap this demographic. The bottom of the homepage offers more detailed areas of knowledge than those highlighted near the top making locating specific information breeze.
As stated above, the site is aimed at women, and it appears that nearly all registered contributing members are women, but much of the advice offered is practical enough to be of use to men as well. Little of what is offered aside from the medical and nutritional advice is truly from experts, but that is of little consequence as you need not be an expert to share practical real life advice. The site is quite young and is evolving rapidly, but so far it has moved in a good positive direction and improved with each upgrade.
