Attracting free marketing strategies for your business

Networking is the best free publicity you can do for your business. Don't be afraid to put yourself out there and let everyone know who you are and what you do.

So many people start their businesses totally gun ho, but slowly as time wears on they become complacent about their business, siting things like bad economy, bad employees and the customers, as to why their business is starting to fail. One major factor as to why businesses fail is that owners forget to have a well developed advertising plan in place from the start. An advertising plan does not mean running adds, it means getting your name out to the public about your product or service.

Many business owners think their idea will be so much better than anyone else's, that they forget that unless someone other than themselves thinks this way, the business will fail.

Networking is a supportive system of sharing information and services among individuals and groups having a common interest. The common interest you would share in networking your business is creating and interest in your business or service.

Some simple methods on how to network easily and create free advertising for your business are;

Join a Business Club - these are usually made up of 12-20 members meeting once a month, exchanging local information, business cards and any leads that may have become apparent, each member is usually from a different type of business, therefore not creating competition within the group.

Have a Welcome Event - Put on an open house for your business, make it as inviting as possible. Provide as much information in the form of fliers, sampling, and posters. Information is key, ensure everyone that comes leaves with complete knowledge of your product and service.

Locate Local Notice Boards - many local businesses will have noticeboards in their places of business where you can place business cards or posters, be sure to provide the same service in your business, or if you are only a service business say such as a garden service, then be sure to return the compliment by mentioning businesses that supply free advertising on your fliers.

Utilize Customers to get the word out - your customers are your best advertising, this is the ultimate networking. Provide an excellent product and service, and followup. Each satisfied customer will bring business back to you ten fold.

Offer discounts on product and service to new or repeat customers example offer a 10% discount on first service, be sure your value of service or product is comparable to competitors, customers are savy, don't try to trick your customers with high prices but try to cover by offering a discount.

'Side Note' - Never do anything completely for Free - free does not translate into sales. Be wise in giving free product and service. This should be a marketing tool that has return, do not confuse foot traffic with sales and good business.

Free Publications - be aware of all free publicity available in your area, you will be surprised how much is out there. Most local radio stations and newspapers offer some type of free advertising throughout the year for local businesses, success of local businesses is extremely important for the survival of these media outlets. There are also numerous web based sites that offer free advertising, ensure you familiarize yourself with these options.

Although not entirely free, as there is the cost involved in producing this item. Advertise yourself, this means create shirts, jackets, towels, hats or other items, that look professional, stand out and will spike customer interest.

Lastly, be sure to be proud of your business and product, stay informed and know your competition.
