There are many websites that claim to pay for writing, but in my experience I have found very few websites that really live up to their claims. In this article I will share my thoughts and opinions about websites that will pay for writing.
First up is www.helium.com. This is one of the best outlets for writers. Based upon your writing and rating star levels you can earn from 50 cents to $2.50 per article submitted as long as it falls within certain categories. Articles must contain at least 400 words, and the topics available to write about is vast, with new titles being added daily. Helium is a great place for a person to earn a little extra money every month by sharing their thoughts and opinions on a variety of subjects. The helium Marketplace is also a great way to increase your earnings on helium. This website does pay, and in addition to your upfront payment offers you will earn money every time your content is viewed.
Next up is another well known website: www.associatedcontent.com. Associated Content will pay from around $1 to $20 per article that is accepted for publication. Again articles must contain a minimum of 400 words and again, articles must fall into certain categories for payment consideration. Poetry, website reviews and national chain restaurant reviews are a few of the categories that will not be offered upfront payments. I have the most success with reviews and guides on Associated Content. All articles earn money based on page views and payments are sent out automatically. There is no minimum payout at Associated Content, which is a plus.
I have had the misfortune of writing for www.reviewstream.com. This website will buy reviews on almost any subject, and most reviews are worth around forty cents each. It takes a very long time to reach the minimum $50 for payout, and in a nutshell it is not worth your time to write for this website. The operator is quite rude, and review stream will own your reviews for life for a mere forty cents each. They do pay assuming you stick with it long enough to reach $50, but most people end up giving up before they have submitted the 125 reviews needed for payout.
Finally, www.textbroker.com is a great place for writers. You can accept assignments that interest you, and you know exactly how much each assignment is worth before you accept it. The minimum payout is $10, which is easy to achieve and payments are made once a month.
